Learners Aged 16-18

If you are a 16 year old school leaver who has just completed your GCSE's and want an alternative to College or Sixth Form College then we can provide a more practical learning journey via our Level 3 Apprenticeship and Traineeship Routes.

Or you may be a Post 16 Student currently studying Computer Science or Further Maths and may want to undertake a work placement program or traineeship as part of your T Level Qualification so you can gain real industry experience alongside your studies and build a portfolio to show to perspective employers.
How we approach learning.
Learners are initially invited to undertake a short-term placement period to work alongside senior developers who assess your current ability level and natural aptitude for coding whilst each learner in-turn can become acquainted with the day-to-day demands of working within an organisation i.e. working to deadlines, following briefs, and liaising with staff and peers.

Successful placement students will be offered a full-time level 3 software apprenticeship which will last 12-18 months and students will be able to progress onto a Level 4 Software Developer Course (Foundation Degree Equivalent) and a Level 6 Software Developer Course (Bachelors Degree Course).

Your Journey to becoming a fully fledged Software Developer can take many directions depending on the type of learning you prefer.
By taking the Apprenticeship route, you will be working in a real-world working environment and so will be expected to adhere to workplace rules and principles, and will learn as you work in industry. This is usually a more hands on approach and you are likely to be working on real commercial projects, managing customer expectations, adhering to quality standards, industry methodology and working in teams with peers.

The alternative option is the more academic traditional option which involves "behind-desk" learning at a Sixth Form Centre or College, usually studying for 2 years and then advancing onto a 3 Year Computer Science Degree. Some University students choose a work placement year between Years 2 and 3 to gain industry experience with the possibility of the company promising a full time place upon graduation.
